Planning stage of the scripted task

I have just planned out my video that I am going to film for the 2 week scripted task that we were given on Friday.

I've got a great idea!

Type of Shots Video

Tonight I started to edit my type of shots footage and I feared that it would take a long time, however I have just finished it! Didn't take long at all :)

I had fun making this video...I decided to add some music over the top of it and I used 'Hit Me With Your Best Shot' by Pat Benetar (I thought that was quite amusing, as my video was about shots!)

Oh dear.

Camera Movement Finished Production

Just finished editing my camera movement footage and I am really pleased with the finished outcome.

The only problem that I faced was when I exported my video into itunes, there was some added sounds on the itunes version, however when I played it back through imovie, the sound wasn't there. So i'm not too sure why sounds have been moved around in the finished product - it isn't a huge issue.

I chose to do a short film/advert to challenge myself in the editing process and filming process, so that I get a real insight into the type of things that are to come in media a-level.

Editing Progress on Camera Movement shots

Today, I have made some great progress on editing my video footage!

Leanne, another friend in my media class, showed me how to speed up clips so that they were more effective to watch and I also re-jogged my memory on how to split clips to manipulate certain parts of a selection. 

I am nearly finished editing my camera movement footage and I am really enjoying the process of it...I am about to work on it now and re-jig some clips etc. about and add the rest of the titles to the different types of shot!

Let's hope I have as much success when I come to edit my type of angle shots :))

Overcome the software problem and made progress

After having so many problems with Adobe Premier Pro, I have decided to use a software which I am familiar with and I am editing my footage on IMovie. Today, I started editing my footage for the first time and I felt much more comfortable using a software which I trusted and I know is reliable.

I had a few dilemmas. I wasn't sure how to fade out on IMovie, however after researching it, I managed to find out and instead of fading out, you fade to black. 

I was very impressed with my work today and I am extremely impressed with some of the shots that I have taken and the way that I have positioned the camera in different places/angles to give added effect.

I am looking forward to editing more over the weekend and next week in class! :))

Software Problems

Really not impressed with the software (Adobe Premier Pro CS6) ... I've tried to upload my footage numerous times and I have found many problems in doing so. Today, I used the Adobe Encoder to convert the files, as I was having problems with the files as they were jumping.
When I first converted the files, they improved; they soon started to jump again.

To overcome this problem, I am going to try the IMovie software as I am more familiar with it and I will hopefully be able to edit my footage more effectively.

Homework Task - Film Idea

Homework Task

Come up with an idea for a film using this brief: Person A has had something that person B wants. Person A has lost this thing. A and B now have to find the missing thing.

Genre: Fantasy or Techno-noir

In response to your brief, I would like to present to you my pitch. I have chosen the genre fantasy, and I am no going to present my ideas to you.

Barry grew up in a small town in Nashville. All through elementary and middle school, he was constantly bullied for being ‘nerdy’ and he didn’t ever mix with anyone. At the age of 14, Barry felt like he wanted to show the world what he was made of and he just wanted to make friends and show them he was a nice person, so he decided that he’d try and create something that was called the ‘like-able pill’. After many evenings and weekends of experiments and investigations, he finally felt like he’d come up with the perfect mix of solutions and had created something that could change his life forever.

After a few tweaks here and there, Barry finally got the courage to see if it worked. He estimated that it would take round about 2 hours to start to work after taking the pill, so he took it two hours before leaving the house to go to school. That was the day that changed this life.

Barry became the most popular kid in the school, with all of the girls flocking round him and the boys wanting to get tips off him on how to get all of the girls. He felt amazing. Finally, people acknowledged him and he felt like he was part of something.

Jay, one of the older kids that had got word of Barry, felt totally screwed over by him because he used to get all of the girls and he used to be the most popular. Jay approached Barry and asked him his secret. Barry told Jay about his new invention and told him that he would bring him some pills into school so that he could try them out.

The next day, Barry arrived at school and met Jay. As Barry went to get the pills from his bag, he couldn’t find them anywhere. He was distraught. Jay couldn’t believe what was happening. Barry ran home and searched everywhere but they were nowhere to be found. From this day on, Barry and Jay set out to find the missing pill and made it their goal not to come back until they found it. 

Induction Task 3 - Practical Task

For part of our induction to a-level Media Studies, we were asked to create a 30 second video representing yourself, or someone you know in a good light. As I write and perform my own music, I chose myself to represent and I decided to show it in the format of a 'tour video', as if I was touring.

I had so much fun making this video, as that's what I find really interesting and enjoyable.
