Features of Action Films

http://www.filmsite.org/actionfilms.html

Here I have found a website that identifies the features of action films and they include:

- Chase scenes
- Races (In car and on foot)
- Good looking protagonist (James Bond)
- Based around a male protagonist (Arnold Schwarzeneggr)

ETC.

Whilst planning my film, I will have to bare these features in mind and include those in mine, as I going for the stereotypical action film with the features that would be expected.

Casino Royale
Casino Royale is extremely realistic as you can actually see people in pain, whilst they're suffering from wounds are torture

To me, this is very realistic as you can clearly see Bond's facial expression as he goes to kick the victim on the floor - he is showing concentration and hatred. The man on the floor is turning away, trying to cover himself from being hurt however it doesn't get away with it. A MS/LS is used to establish their surroundings and the action in which is going on.

Skyfall

Clearly, the audience can see Bond falling and they assume that he is dead, however he comes back to life. The audience are then left to question whether Bond was actually shot, however it is shown that he has a wound, yet he wouldn't have survived the shot, yet he comes back to life.

This proves that Skyfall is one of the less realistic Bond films, however the viewing figures definitely show that the audience still want to watch it.

Taken

This scene in Taken is extremely disturbing for the audience to view as the curly haired man is being tortured through the use of the electric shock chair, however this is due to the realism of the scene and the facial expressions in which the actors use.

Representation of men in actions films
The representation of men in actions films are blood-thirsty, power hungry addicts ready to conquer all, while getting all of the good-looking women at the same time. That is the stereotypical view that is being given off to the audience.

Representation of women in actions films
Women are represented to be extremely glamorous and attractive, ready to draw in all of the 'bad-guys', however the ones that always come out as heroes in the end.
