I have looked into photoshop tutorials of the how to create the gun barrel sequence in James Bond, however I started trying to make it but it didn't work out very well.
I followed each step of the tutorial and the first step worked out well. I had to change the gradient to create this particular effect:
However when I continued each step, the project screen went blank and I couldn't get back the progress which I had made, so I am unsure on what to do next.
I am going to email James Corker as he said he would look into the sequence as well and see what he found.
