IT'S FINALLY FINISHED!
Thank goodness...
After a long, drawn out process, my final piece is finally finished.
MISSING - FINAL PIECE
I am extremely pleased with the final result, however there are a few problems:
- There is a slight jump before Thundersteel
- You can't hear "nice" at the end when Laurene says, "nice try", this is probably something to do with the microphone during filming
- There is a slight hiss on some of the audio, however it has been cleaned up considerable amounts
- The 'hiss' is bad during the start of the briefing scene as it switches between shots/different takes, however it is much better than we originally started with
- The audio is now much louder than the original, enabling us to hear the audio much clearer, however some of the voice isn't as clear due to the amount of cleaning up there has been done
- Before Dosh Longrin and Laurene come back in before the incidental music, during the briefing scene, you can hear the camera move slightly
- After the van sound, there is a sudden stop
- There is also a spelling mistake at the end of the title sequence, "Blocklesby" instead of "Brocklesby", however not to worry - James Corker had bigger things to worry about!
Work on the audio
There has been so much work put into cleaning up the audio and I can't thank Paul Soler enough for all of his time and effort in helping me do this.
The levels were wrong and noisy to start with, so we used Cubase 6.5 to master the audio track, however couldn't import Apple Movie file (MV4) into PC Cubase. We then installed the Mac version of Cubase into my Mac and created a Cubase project and backed up the files onto there, then loading up the project onto the PC Cubase.
Separate tracks were then made for audio and music files.
Audio: We added plugins to clean up the sound; A compressor was used to level out the volumes of the clips, noise reduction was used to reduce the 'hiss' and we used a hum remover.
We then altered the levels between clips to ensure uniform volume.
Music: We synced and added auto fades to appropriate parts. We then cleaned up incidental music track which was originally slightly 'hissy', then ducked levels of music whilst speech was present.
Mastered Soundtrack: Limiter applied to prevent dipping then multi band compressor applied to maximise the audio.
Final Result: We exported the audio as a WAV to maximise quality and then added it onto the top of my video files, as Cubase is an audio programme.
Unfortunately, if we removed all of the frequencies where the hiss was present, the speech would also be removed, so everything that we have done is the best we can do.
Although there is still some hiss present, it's the best we can do as the camera microphone wasn't good enough for the job!
My song that I wrote for my title sequence, I have used the end of it for the title sequence as I used the start of the soundtrack at the start of my film where Laurene is walking, so I thought it'd be more effective to use the end of it for the title sequence.
Wow !! Love it !! I think the music is amazing, shame about the sound quality in the middle but I know you guys worked really hard on trying to improve it. Well done to James, you have made a fantastic job of the credits etc at the end.
ReplyDeleteFingers crossed that the eventual mark reflects all of the hard work that has been out into this film :)))
This is absolutely incredible and the amount of work that has been put into it is evident throughout the whole clip! The camera angles are absolutely fantastic and well thought through. It honestly looks like it was professionally done. A big well done to you Kathryn and to everyone else who helped!
ReplyDeletebrilliant. Well done. John lindsay
