So far I have provided you with an image of the farm metal door and the landscape by my house. I have now got images of the landscape which I actually used and the metal door that I used, and now I am not going to compare which ones were better.
The landscape and the door that I decided to use are far better than the previous ones. This is because the landscape is much wider and spread over different settings throughout the footage, unlike the woods that I was thinking of using which were in a very confined space, making it harder to capture the full effect of the setting.
The metal door at the farm wouldn't have worked well at all, as it didn't have a button to open it with, however the metal door at my grans did, immediately adding to the effect and suspense of the clip. Although the farm door looked more realistic in terms of the colour, as it was actually metal, the white garage door fulfilled a better effect.
These are the images of the settings that I used:
What do you think would have worked best?
I think the locations were fine; very interesting and appropriate. It's more about considering how you shoot and in particular edit in order to create a compelling narrative. The crucial thing is to be concise and focused, making sure that the story is being told in the most interesting manner possible.
